Hey, I'm Jamie!

In this post we’re going to talk about 10 side hustle ides that you can get started on today! Whether you’re currently in your 9-5 job and are looking to supplement your income or if you’re trying to figure out of one of your side hustle ideas can actually turn into something full time, this post is for you!  These are all things you can start off small in, and then try to scale it while you work your current job. One day, hopefully you can turn it into your full-time gig because it is totally possible if you find something you are skilled at, and put the work in. In this blog post, we will discuss 10 side hustles that you can start today to earn some extra cash. These side hustle ideas range in different fields and skill levels.

Freelance Writing

Freelance writing/ghostwriting/copywriting is a great way to earn money while working from home. Many businesses require content for their websites, blogs, and social media channels, and they are always looking for talented writers. There could be a number of reasons in which they are looking for writers. It could be a time issue, or you could just be a more talented writer than the business owner or anyone on staff. I would recommend honing your skills, and then create a portfolio to showcase your work. You can then go onto websites like Upwork or Fiverr and offer your services for a price.

Virtual Assistant

Many entrepreneurs and small businesses need assistance with various tasks, including email management, social media, and administrative work. You can offer your services as a virtual assistant and work from anywhere in the world. You can find clients again on freelance job platforms like Fiverr or Upwork, or by networking with entrepreneurs and small business owners in your area.

Graphic Design

If you fancy yourself as a skilled designer, or think that you have creativity that you think others would benefit from, you can start offering your services as a graphic designer. Many businesses need help with designing logos, flyers, brochures, and other marketing materials. You can build a portfolio of your work and reach out to potential clients on freelance job platforms. Canva is an incredible, user-friendly website that I personally use for quick and easy graphics. Don’t let the “quick and easy” part fool you- they have some seriously cool stuff in there, especially all of the templates that they provide. They’ve made graphic design easy for the average user!

Social Media Management

Social media has become an essential part of any business’s marketing strategy, but many business owners don’t have the time or expertise to manage their social media channels effectively. You can offer your services as a social media manager and help businesses grow their online presence. You can find clients by creating portfolios, cold outreach, or warm outreach through your existing network. Think of any successful business owners you know- do they need help with their social media marketing? Build a portfolio of case studies, analytics and referrals. If you are finding it hard to break in, you can try offering your services for free for a month or two, but this comes with risks of course! This was the first side hustle I ever grew into a full-time gig and it’s still my main source of income today!

Tutoring

If you have excelled in a particular school subject, you can start offering your services as a tutor. Many students need help with subjects like math, science, or English, and they are willing to pay for personalized attention. You can find clients by advertising your services on social media, posting community Facebook pages, or by registering on tutoring platforms like TutorMe.

Dog Walking and Pet Sitting

If you love animals, you can easily start a side hustle as a dog walker or pet sitter. There will always be pet owners who need help with walking their dogs or taking care of their pets while they are away. You can find clients by advertising your services on social media or by networking with pet owners in your area, apps like Rover, and more!

House Cleaning

If you are good at cleaning and organizing, you can start offering your services as a house or commercial cleaner. Many people don’t have the time or energy to keep their homes/businesses clean, and they are willing to pay for someone to do it for them. Offer your services for free just to a few places, maybe even homes/businesses of friends. Take before & after photos and use that to create a portfolio of your work. Market yourself on social media and email businesses in your area! It will be good practice for you as well.

Photography

If you are remotely keen about photography, and learn even some basic editing and photo-taking skills, you can try to offer your services as a photographer. Many businesses need photos for their websites, social media channels, and marketing materials. You can build a portfolio of your work and reach out to potential clients on freelance job platforms or by networking with business owners in your area. Obviously other areas such as weddings, family portraits, professional headshots are things to explore as well.

Personal Shopper

If you have a knack for fashion and style, you can start the niche business of becoming a personal shopper. Many people need help with choosing the right clothes and accessories for their body type and lifestyle. Again, networking in your community and posting outfit inspiration on social media would be a good way to get clients. Post all of your outfits on TikTok and Instagram, and learn some basic editing skills with free apps like CapCut or Splice.

Delivery Services

If you have a reliable car, you can start offering delivery services to businesses and individuals. You can offer your services as a delivery driver through platforms like Uber Eats, DoorDash, or Post-mates. These platforms connect you with customers who need food or other items delivered to their homes or offices. You can work on your own schedule and earn money based on the number of deliveries you complete. This can be a great option if you have a reliable vehicle and enjoy driving, and working whatever hours you choose for the most part.

Overall, there are a TON of ways to make money out there! The good part- you can do most of these without quitting your current job. The even better part- some of these can become full-time jobs and you can become the business owner if you are skilled and motivated enough – I’m proof!
